Bullet Journal – February 2020 Cover Page & Monthly Spread

So I’m super late to this one…

At the beginning of this month I went on a two week business trip to Australia. I spent 5 days in Melbourne before flying to Sydney. I was with two colleagues and although we were working pretty non-stop most days, we did get to have a little bit of fun.

I really wanted to see koalas while I was in Australia, so that’s why I decided on the koala for my February cover page. We actually did get the chance to do this when we visited the Healesville Sanctuary. They were super cute, but very sleepy. Definitely can relate 😉

We also got to see kangaroos, so that was pretty exciting!

I’ll admit, I haven’t done a great job with my habit tracker this month. It’s so hard when traveling! I’ve definitely done better since I’ve been back, but I really need to get back on track next month.

Change is Coming!

I believe in growth and change. It’s hard sometimes, but I think as I’ve gotten older I’ve realized a lot about myself and that change has been necessary to bring me to where I am today.

Since I first started this site, it’s gone through quite a few changes. When it started, it was just a place for me to re-post articles that I had written for the Tyler Student Life blog. The intention was that I could then send potential employers the link to my site and they would be able to see samples of my writing.

Then back in 2014, my New Year’s Resolution was to start reading more. I decided that the best way for me to motivate myself to read more (and to keep track of what I was reading) was for me to post reviews of the stories on this blog. I figured it wouldn’t hurt for people to see more of my personal writing if a potential employer did happen to stumble on my site.

I definitely haven’t read as much as I had hoped to in the time since, and there have definitely been long periods of time between posts, but I still try to keep up with reading and posting (and I think I’m doing better with it).

I’ve posted some product reviews and even one (embarrassing) makeup tutorial, but for the most part this site has just been about books.

For a long time, I’ve been thinking about how I want that to change. With the start of the new year, I’ve decided that I’m finally going to start making some changes with the site and posting new types of content.

About 4 years ago I started keeping a bullet journal. It’s something that I really enjoy doing and I’m honestly surprised that I’ve been able to stick to it this long. I definitely get inspiration from others when it comes to my bullet journal, but I love that it also allows me to be creative and make it into whatever I want it to be.

I’ve wanted to post some of my spreads on this site for awhile, but it never really felt like the right time until now. I just started a new journal for 2020 and it finally feels like a good time to really get my creative juices pumping and start posting my spreads.

I also have a job that allows me to travel pretty often and I’d like to start posting about the places that I’ve been. I’m not entirely sure how I’m going to do this yet, but I’ve been traveling for about 3 years now and it’s definitely time to start sharing it before I forget the trips entirely.

I’ll still be posting book reviews, but hopefully this will add a little more to the site. I hope people enjoy it as much as I do 🙂

I’m Back!! And I’m Here to Stay

Hey Guys! I’m never sure if I’m really talking to anyone here (and it’s been FOREVER since I’ve posted, so anyone who WAS reading has probably given up hope on me now), but I seriously owe you and myself an apology.

I really made an effort for a while to regularly post on here, whether it be book reviews or little musings or really anything else. I wanted this to be a blog that wasn’t really tied down to one thing and I think I did a good job for awhile.

In the last year, I started a new AMAZING job. I’ve been traveling the world for my job and really living my life to the fullest. I’m so happy with where my life has gone and it’s been really exciting.

The whole time I’ve missed this blog. I’ve still been reading a lot and making notes to *eventually* post the reviews on here. I started bullet journaling and I’ve really been wanting a space to share my pages. Plus, I’ve really wanted a place to share my travels. Seriously, I’ve been traveling around the US, I went to Canada, and even spent 15 days traveling around Europe. I need a place to share this.

I’m going to make a new promise to myself to keep up with this blog. Writing has always been something that I’ve loved and I’m disappointed in myself for not keeping up with it and for being away from it for so long.

I hope that there are still people out there who would be interested in what I’m writing about and I hope that this reaches people who maybe are in the same boat. I don’t ever want to be afraid to admit that I’ve disappointed myself, and I never want to be afraid to pick something back up that I really enjoy doing.

I back and I’m gonna stay for awhile this time 🙂

Letters from Majorca by J.D. Daniels

I very much enjoyed reading J.D. Daniels essay “Letters from Majorca.” Parts of it jumped around a bit and I wasn’t exactly sure where he was or what time frame it was in the story, but I do not think that it took away from it.

When I think of non-fiction pieces, I usually think of long-form biographies or memoirs. I think this essay really shows that you can write a piece of non-fiction and it can still be interesting. I especially liked how it sort of felt like he was jumping through different memories that would bring him to another topic.

When I write, I often feel like things that I’m writing about remind me of something else and I want to spend time talking about that, but I’ve never been successful at doing so. This essay is successful in doing that and actually made it really pretty great.
